Sha'da Ouaismec - LES YEUX AFFAMES

LES YEUX AFFAMES is a dinner performance designed and conceived by Sha’da Ouaismec, a French-Moroccan artist based in Paris. Having completed a bay area residency inspired by the social complexities of the local “art walks,” Sha’da seeks to engage the audience from the relative perspective of the art object, a thing truly completed by its own purchase, its hold on material corporeality—its trade. The propitious, ‘artisan’ community of food enthusiasts has helped her to create an object beyond what can be immediately consumed or used--an art in which the defining character embodies a malleable evolving force that speaks to our understanding, or lack of, a prehistory and to a trajectory we all consume and are consumed by.
